F16 Bird Strike
Watch what can quickly happen to a multi-milion dollar aircraft because of one bird. The good news is, the pilot and flight instructor on board stayed calm and ditched the aircraft in an empty field sparing innocent lives on the ground.

Airventure 2008 ATC
Ever wonder what it's like to be one of the approach controllers for Airventure at Oshkosh? Listen to this audio file of ATC at FISK approach from Airventure 2008. Thanks to David Huntington for this audio file!
(Be advised, this file is approximately 7.5 MB in size and may take a few minutes to download, especially on slower internet connections)
Icing on the ILS
On November 24, 2008, a pilot flying a Bonanza was being vectored to the ILS at Syracuse Hancock International when apparently his airspeed indicator began to show a slower speed, however the pilot at first mistakes this for losing power. He then asks to get right in. At that point the controller (one who had just taken over the shift from the first controller you hear at the beginning) begins to hand-hold the pilot onto the localizer. The aircraft then drifts off the localizer and also loses altitude a couple of times. Fortunately this clip ends well. Thanks to Peter Ricciardiello and LiveATC.net for providing this clip.
Micro burst alerts at KSYR
Several microburst alerts culminated into a 55 knot microburst alert as an isolated thunderstorm passed directly over Syracuse-Hancock International Airport. This clip begins with a Northwest Airlines aircraft that had just departed SYR negotiating vectors with departure control around thunderstorm cells out to the west. Following this brief exchange are several microburst alerts of increasing intensity being issued by the tower/ground controller. The clip wraps up with an approaching aircraft being informed of the conditions at the airport. The clip has been edited to remove some of the dead-air. Thanks to Peter Ricciardiello for sending it to us!
Mooney landing gear up at KSYR
On August 14, 2007, A Mooney on approach to Syracuse apparently lost all electrical power and the ability to lower his landing gear. Note that this clip has had non-essential transmissions edited out as well as silent gaps in order to compress the file size. The clip was originally about 20 minutes long before editing.
Thanks to Peter Ricciardiello for editing this clip.
JFK Ground
Here's a great example of how confusing things can get at a major airport when it comes to ground control. Our hats off to the ground controller who was able to sort this mess out.

Learjet Icing Emergency
On March 22, 2006 a Learjet that was inbound to Buffalo/Niagara International picked up severe icing that caused it to climb uncontrollably because of a tail stall.  Listen to the radio transmissions between the pilot and Buffalo ATC,  Thanks to Peter Ricciardiello for this file.
KLM In-Flight Fuel Emergency
On August 2, 2005, KLM 691, a Boeing 747, was forced to divert from Toronto to Syracuse because of low fuel.  The aircraft could not land at Toronto because the airport was closed due to a crash that occurred there earlier.  Listen to the radio transmissions between KLM flight 691 and ATC.
